Land-Urbia 2014 is a series of exhibitions focusing on urban and landscape planning, architecture and design in Visegrad countries. It combines the best practice examples in a form of posters, models and artistic works; a scientific conference including presentations and panel discussions; practice-oriented workshops and other parallel program – all of these are opened for academic, professional as well as general public. LAND-URBIA 2014 is a third-year event named “Urban identity and public space”.

LAND-URBIA is a series of exhibitions focusing on urban and landscape planning, architecture and design in Visegrad countries. LAND-URBIA 2014 is a third-year event named “Urban identity and public space” and will take place in Nitra, Slovakia, during 24-27.4.2014. It will have four core parts: A) An exhibition of the best practice examples in a form of posters, models and artistic works will introduce the various features of past, present and perspective urban development in Visegrad countries. This exhibition will create a space of approx. 2000m2 where the entire program will take place. B) A scientific conference including presentations and panel discussions will last four days. Conference contributions will focus on legal, practical and theoretical challenges of urban development. An active exchange of ideas, experience and skills between academics, professionals and general public from different countries will help to identify key common challenges, options and solutions for future urban development. C) Practice-oriented workshops focusing on participative planning methods via particular case studies will combine professionals with general public. D) Other program will include artists, short movies and children’s corner. Also, prizes in urban and landscape planning, architecture and design for the year 2013 will be presented. All of these four parts will be opened for academic, professional as well as general public – this concept is unique in Middle Europe. LAND-URBIA 2014 has two main goals: first, it aims to support the urban development that is rooted in authentic identity, human values and the quality of life, and second, it highlights further education of general public.
